Currently based in Massachusetts, Ariana Bellan is a dedicated artist of many mediums. She specializes in printmaking, especially copper plate intaglio, as well as painting, photography and drawing. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, graduating in spring 2022.
Ariana’s work mostly explores body image and the feminine experience, especially regarding how it is to exist as a woman in our society. This draws from her experiences, her friends and family, media and common stereotypes. She often incorporates subjects such as gender roles, the feeling of being trapped, expectations and dangers. Ariana usually loves to depict these subjects in dramatic tableaux. She uses dark and disturbing imagery full of oddities and small details that are revealed the longer a person looks, some including a certain morbid humor. As of late she has been heavily inspired by science fiction, especially dystopian media and comics, which have been informing the surreal scenes that she creates.
